I play ultimate frisbee at noon MWF with a rag tag group of technical types from the local area. When I introduced myself one of them asked what I did for a living. When I replied that I was unemployed, he followed up with, "Oh, what kind of engineer are you?". That would be electrical...
So, we have an email list that everyone responds to so we can get a head count for the games. If there's not enough interest (usually need 8 people) the game is cancelled. One of fellows (Casey) has created a program that creates (he claims) balanced teams by tallying the responses and comparing the players present to a skill table that he created. The email discussion went something like this:
